My name is Terry Manning, and I’m a journalist with more than 20 years of experience writing and editing.
I’ve worked for newspapers in the southestern United States, from the Carolinas to Florida and Alabama. I began my career as a general assignment reporter and transitioned to the copy desk, where I cleaned up reporters’ copy and laid out pages for the newspapers that employed me. From there, I transitioned to online, which required me to build pages and produce — and supervise teams that produced — still and moving images for in print and online. See part of my portfolio under the “Video” tab above.
I also produced a weekly tech column for the Montgomery Advertiser. It ran in print and online for over a year. Some excerpts can be found here under “Blog.”
I am a native of Gaffney, South Carolina, and a graduate of Clemson University (Go, Tigers!) with a bachelor of arts degree in English with a minor in communications.
I’m a member of and webmaster for Shady Grove Baptist Church in Gaffney and former head of that church’s board of trustees, a job that required me to oversee the church’s maintenance. I also served as its financial secretary, paying bills and vendors, and keeping the church’s financial records up to date. I also taught a teen Sunday School class for a few years.
I currently attend Grace Life Bar Church in Montgomery, Alabama.
I am a photo enthusiast who has shot portraits and wedding for friends. I have also been a paid wedding photographer and photographer for up-and-coming models.
